The "Uvalde Together Resiliency Center"
The Uvalde Together Resiliency Center has been established through Texas Governor Abbott’s office in partnership with local officials to provide centralized resources to the community of Uvalde. It is open to victims, families, and the community, regardless of citizenship status. All services are free of charge and include immediate and long-term services. A list of resources for counseling and support is included on the Uvalde Together Resiliency Center flyer (English & Spanish).

Hill Country Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Center
The Hill Country Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Center is one of 39 state agencies that deliver mental health and developmental disability services across the state of Texas. “At Hill Country MHDD Centers our purpose is to help people have positive control over the life they desire and find satisfying, and are recognized and valued for their contributions to their communities. Through our adult and child behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance abuse, crisis care, and justice involved services programs, we promote hope, independence, community integration and recovery.” (Hill Country MHDD, 2019)

“The UCISD Family & Student Counselors provide support and services for students and their families, creating a true connection between home life, school life, and community life. The FSSC’s are Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselor-Associates, or Social Workers, licensed by their respective state boards. They offer brief, short-term counseling on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, as determined by exhibited need, during non-academic time.”
“The Family & Student Counselors are knowledgeable regarding available community resources and can connect families with organizations that may benefit those with specific needs. The FSSC also provides families with information from the district, community agencies, city and state institutions, and any other organizations that might benefit those with specific needs. Belong, a division of SJRC Texas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves families and children who have faced trauma, has created a resource page for our community. As of 6/16/2022, Belong is directing site traffic to Hope for Uvalde; however, this site has numerous links for educational resources.

The Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas was established to help children and families grieving the death of a loved one. They have online resources available for helping families support children through dealing with loss. They now have a location in Uvalde.

Clarity Child Guidance Center is the only nonprofit mental health treatment center for kids ages 3 to 17 in South Texas. They will work with families to help a child in crisis get treatment regardless of their ability to pay.

Set Free Prayer Ministry
with Dr. Jim Gardner, Ph.D., LPC
Dr. Jim Gardner, Ph.D., LPC, is a Christian counselor who has 45 years of experience in the mental health field. After practicing traditional counseling for 25 years and finding it to be ineffective, he began studying and learning to use a prayer based approach and immediately witnessed people being freed from their emotional burdens. Dr. Gardner has been sharing the prayer principle of the Set Free Prayer Ministry with the residents of Uvalde since June 2022. He aims to help people overcome feelings of grief, anger, shame, sadness, depression, and anxiety. “These are the underlying emotions behind traumas that need to be resolved so that the traumatized person can experience genuine peace in their life and be a good parent and spouse and so that their families will grow stronger rather than weaker as a result of the trauma in Uvalde.” (HealingUvalde.com, 2022)
Dr. Gardner visits Uvalde every two to four weeks to offer free individual counseling services, as well as free public seminars on this effective faith-based way to find healing from grief, anger, fear, and shame from the shooting on May 24th, 2022.
